Just a few more ‘unmentioned plans’

Just who is making law?

Just who is making law?

A New York Times’ story reveals that immigration officials at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have begun preparations for issuing visas to 11-18 million illegal aliens who would be granted an amnesty if Congress is able to pass immigration reform legislation. “We are under way to prepare for that,” USCIS director Alejandro Mayorkas told the paper.
Mayorkas also said that President Obama has told the agency that amnesty would be part of an immigration reform bill, so the agency is trying to be ready for the massive influx of visa applications.
The first step according to Mayorkas and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has been holding meetings across the country listening to ideas, and one possible idea is for illegal aliens to begin the visa process already by filling out forms that verify their current presence in the United States and then mailing the form to the lockboxes.
We also have a question about this process: Who do you think these bureaucrats are discussing these plans with? Who is their audience? If it was anything other than to special interest groups, we’re sure we wouldn’t be hearing about it. Now again, has anyone heard or known of Mayorkas and Napolitano traversing the country for illegal immigration ideas?
Furthermore in a meeting held at the White House – no media allowed – the meeting included advocacy groups, religious organizations, unions, employers and law enforcement. United Farm Workers Union President Arturo Rodriguez said participants delivered blunt messages to Napolitano that she needed to adjust her public message.
“Very frankly, one issue was that we want to make sure you’re communicating the importance of immigration as much as you are communicating the importance of enforcement,” Rodriguez said. “We are a nation of laws. We all understand that, but simultaneously we are a nation of immigrants as well that treats people with dignity and respect. We delivered that. I think she got that message loud and clear from everybody.”
The way that Rodriquez is communicating it is overwhelming obvious who is in charge of immigration reform in our country. We must admit that in his quote, “We are a nation of laws. We all understand that…” and then just dismiss that claim by espousing that “…simultaneously we are a nation of immigrants…” really is an oxymoron. If we are a nation of laws – then those laws should be acted on immediately. This entire business of ‘America is a nation of immigrants’ is not exclusive! Every nation on this planet is a nation of immigrants!
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) who is the senior Republican on the House Immigration Subcommittee expressed concern for the early preparations.
“There is a risk to national security that they will take their eyes off background checks of immigrants. While they are busy setting up for legislation that has not been introduced in any way, shape or form.”
We agree!

I don’t get it. It’s a freaked messed up state of affairs when you reward illegal behavior.

Alas, you’re a right-wing, racist hick if you dare uphold, erm, the law.

What’s wrong with demanding immigrants follow it? As far as I can tell, Americans aren’t saying you can’t come, what they’re saying is follow the rules to come in. Fair is fair.

You are so right! I get dizzy when I think of what the legislator’s must have done to get this type of treatment.

What’s with this picture = reward illegal behavior while punishing those who’ve worked hard and made some money?

Your last paragraph is so insightful that I may just use it myself! It certainly is not something that ‘Average American Jane or John’ is doing as much as the special interest behind the entire mess! Cheers and thanx for the excellent comment!
