‘Protected’ status and equality

Equality is equality, right?

Equality is equality, right?

What do you say we walk on down to ‘Fantasy Island’ and have a bit of a word with The Thinker’s Unofficial Oversight Committee? Here are some pressing issues that we’d like to get clear about – you know, to feel the pulse of the nation.

The Unofficial Oversight Committee has concerns with regards to the idea of “protected groups” within our society. Moreover, the committee is also seeking answers from anyone and everyone who is willing to give them. Discussion on the committee’s docket: Why are these groups of people protected, and how does one apply for this ‘protection ship.’

We understand the need for some intervention strategies that are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution; yet, we are wondering about what the Founder’s and the Framer’s of this magnificent country would be thinking and how they would reason.

First we’d like to put forth some hypotheticals just to establish some groundwork that we can operate on. Therefore, we’d like to ask how you would feel if the entire Adult Entertainment industry – from films, toys, extramarital gadgets, to outright pornography – became a ‘protected group’ in this country?

Let’s run the litmus of all litmus’s tests with this one: Are the participants human? Do they have rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution? Are they any less equal as human beings than say your neighbor? Interestingly just the film portion of the AE industry brought in roughly between $8 to 12 billion dollars in 2008.

However if a person applying for a job listed their last employment as Debbie Does Dallas and Deep Throat these may cause red flags, or what do you think? Now let’s look at some of the most perceived ‘Elites’ in our country today just for some checks and balances, what do you say?

In recent days, weeks, months, and years we have been made privy to the ongoing sex lives and extramarital business of say – Governor Sanford, Senator Vitter, Senator Craig, President William Clinton, Senator Ensign, New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevy, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, former presidential nominee and Senator of North Carolina John Edwards and certainly one of the most famous international affairs involved President Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings.

The ugly side of this infidelity is that it involves the ‘Elites’ of the other gender as well. Yes let it be known that Catherine the Great was involved with her playmates, as was the one, the only Princess Diana, Prime Minister Golda Meir was quite busy both during and after office hours. It’s been pretty well-documented since her death; and lest we not forget Helen Chenoweth, former Congresswoman from Idaho who admitted to having affairs and was quickly forgiven by her conservative base.

Herein lies our questions; given both the hypotheticals and reality of humankind why is the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered (LGBT) individuals getting protected status and people in adult entertainment not? We need to understand that equality is equality so what makes people who make money and films having sex any less equal?

Most recent…Leighton Meester of “Gossip Girls” currently has some still photos and a sex tape on the market; bidding toppled the $1,000,000.00 (one million dollar) within minutes!
